Any
Knight who is sick or in need of transportation to a doctor or to
get medication, please contact Brother Joe Murray at 971-2737. THE HOLY FATHER’S INTENTIONS FOR FEBRUARY General: That
the mentally handicapped may not be marginalized but respected and lovingly
helped to live in a way worthy of their physical and social condition. Mission: That
Institutes of Consecrated Life, so flourishing in mission countries, may
rediscover the missionary dimension and, faithful to the radical choice of
Gospel counsels, be generous in bearing witness to Christ and proclaiming
Him to the ends of the earth. LITURGICAL

District
Deputy’s Report – Bob Maher
a). A membership blitz will take place on the
weekend of March 29 & 30. We need the reports on Form 100 and Prospect Cards.
b). Nominations for Young Man & Young Woman
of the Year must be in by March 1st and to the State by March 31st.
c). We have a new insurance agent in our
district – Colin Kearney who belongs to St. Francis of Assisi Council #690, in Staunton. Call him if you need insurance.
Chancellor’s Report – Tom O’Rourke
a). On January 21st,
Tom made three proposals to the council. Unfortunately there was no vote on
them since a quorum was not present. Again this month there was no quorum,
hence no vote. Hopefully we can vote on these at the next meeting.
1).
It has been proposed that instead of the Warden leading the Rosary before the
meeting, 5 members of the council be chosen each to lead one decade of the
Rosary.
2).
It has been proposed that the council establish a kit of 5 Rosary beads and 5
cards on how to say the Rosary, for use at funerals. A Certificate of
Condolence should also be made available. The Grand Knight or His Designee
shall administer the presentation.
3).
It has been proposed that council establish a kitty of Rosary beads for use by
members prior to the meeting. To encourage carrying your own beads, a fee of 25
cents should be levied for their use. The money garnered should be used to purchase
more. The Inside Guard should
administer this program.
b). The Survey of Fraternal Activity, commonly referred to as “The
strong right arm of the Church” has
been a dismal failure with 15 returns out of 120. There are still six members
outstanding that have not identified where they attend Church, or if they still
want to be members of our council. A recommendation to terminate their
membership has been proposed and will be acted upon at the next valid business
meeting.
c). We have booklets on “The Catholic Teaching on Annulment”. If you
know of anyone in need of this type of guidance, please contact Tom for a booklet.
d). We thank the Church Community for supporting IMPACT, PACEM, The
Weekly Food Bank, and Weekly Soup Kitchen where on a recent Thursday, we
served over 200 meals. IMPACT needs your help again on March 10 at 6:00PM as we
gather at U-Hall in support of Affordable Housing & Dental Support for the
needy. Please be there.
e). Congratulations to
Colette Hall for her award as “Citizen Planner of the Year”.

Deputy Grand Knight Report – John Chiumento
John requested $500 for the youth group to support their trip to Washington D.C. A motion to provide the funding was passed and seconded, but could not be voted by the Council because a quorum was not present.
TRUSTEE ONE YEAR Report – Jim Morrisard
At the present time, our
council has 15 members that owe $900.00 in back dues. No one really wants to
suspend these individuals, but what can or should we do?
New Business
We’ve received a request
from the Church of the Incarnation to provide funds for 68 photo frames that
will be presented to this years communion class. The frames cost about $5.00 a
piece for a total of $340 plus tax. No action was taken on this request because
of a lack of a quorum.

Jerome
passed away on February 2, 2008. A viewing was held Tuesday, February 5, 2008
at Hill and Wood Funeral Home in Charlottesville. The Honor Guard consisted of
Tim Hipskind, Bob Sedlack, Bill Phillips, Joe Murray, Jim Morrisard &
Parker Northrup. Rosary decades were
said by Jim Morrisard, Joe Murray, Bill Phillips, and Jack Andrews. Tim
Hipskind also presented a Resolution of Condolence from the 4TH
Degree. A Mass of the Resurrection was held on Wednesday, February 8th.
Concelebrants were Fr. Dennis McAuliffe, Fr. Gerald Fogerty S.J., Fr. Brian
Mulcahy O.P. and Msgr Chester Michael. Jim Morrisard was the Alter Server. Joe
Murray and Tom O’Rourke were ushers. Council #3670 attendees were: Bernard
Morin, Roger Scanlan, Francis Burns, Joe Ciaccio, Charles Ciaccio and Phil
Carr.
A
funeral Mass was held at the Church of the Incarnation on February 15 for Mitch
Van Yahres, former Mayor of Charlottesville and long time Virginia legislator.
Although Mr. Van Yahres attended Holy Comforter, he was buried from Incarnation
because of the expected crowd that filled the Church to overflowing. Sir
Knights, Jim Morrisard, Joe Murray,
John Chiumento, and Tom O’Rourke were called to service as greeters, ushers,
and Eucharistic Ministers.
Debra
Stokes, wife of Lew Stokes, passed away on February 22nd. A Funeral
Mass was held at St. Thomas Aquinas on Feb 26. The Family received friends and
associates before the 10:00 AM Funeral Mass.
Other Items
We
had two visitors at the last meeting, both from SS Peter and Paul Council
#11475. George Kuhlow, the Membership Coordinator for SS Peter and Paul,
presented some helpful tips on how to increase our membership. Ed Griffen, who
is the Knights of Columbus coordinator
for Fridays after Five, verified our interest for the coming season. Their
visit was appreciated by all and we
hope they stop by more often.
A Memorial Mass for the deceased Brothers of the Order was held on
Saturday, February 9th at Holy Comforter. Fr. Gerald Fogerty S.J.
was the celebrant. Coffee and Danish were provided at the after Mass social.
The Editor was a little disappointed that more Brothers did not attend. There
were about 10 Brothers in attendance,
most accompanied by their wives. We have 105 members in our Council.
Where were you?
