Text Box: Grand Knight Report
Forms VSS6, VSS4, and 185 are done and sent.
I am sorry that we lost another one of our members, Jack Cornacho, but I know he’s in a better place now. I want to thank all those that took the time to honor our Brother Knight by taking part in the funeral.
I also want to thank the Knights that put the awards dinner together, and all those that volunteered for any project during the year. Special thanks to the wives and families that took part in our activities, and DGK John Chiumento who would bring in his youth group to help with our various projects.
I thank the council for electing me Grand Knight for the 2007 – 2008 year. It was a challenge and a learning experience. Most of the time it was fun and enjoyable, but there were times when I wondered if we were on the same page. As my term comes to an end and a new one begins, I want to remind each of you to give all the support you can to the new officers, just as you supported me.
Thank You,
Joe Murray

Chancellor’s Report – Tom O’Rourke

Work on “vocations” is still in progress. Hopefully we’ll have a report by next month.

Tom has given his catalogs of Knights of Columbus memorabilia to Bob Marinchick. If you need Prayer cards, rosaries, medals, K of C  hats, shirts, etc, see Bob.

District Deputy’s Report – Bob Maher

The State Council Organizational meeting will be held on Saturday July 12th, 2008 at Kroger Center in Richmond. Council attendees should include the Grand Knight, Immediate Past Grand Knight, Deputy Grand Knight, Trustees and Financial Secretaries.

Family week this year will be Aug 9th through Aug. 17th.  Family Mass and picnics are recommended to stress family involvement.

The semi-annual audit is due by Aug 15th.

I suggest that you should invite the Insurance Agent to the council meeting so he could explain opportunities to the membership.

A First Degree  exemplification will be held at St. Peter & Paul  on the first Monday of August.

Second Degree exemplification will probably be held the end of August or beginning of September.

Third Degree exemplification will be held on Sept 13th in Virginia Beach. Specifics – To Be Determined.

The state and district had a membership goal of 125% and each made that goal. All the councils had good years since each had a good membership team.

Notes From The Fourth Degree

The next meeting will be held on July 22, 2008.

We need two representatives, one to report to the  4Th degree our Council activities and one to report back to the Council on 4TH degree activities. Please volunteer for one of the slots.

The Assembly had Guard Duty at Fridays After Five on May 30th  and again on June 27th.

Our Council faired well in the elections – Tom O’Rourke  was elected Controller, Ernie Sardi  was elected as Inner Sentinel and Phil Carr – Outer Sentinel.

Sylvia Murray,   Father Carl Naro,    Peter Colo,  Nat Long, Colette Hall, wife of Brother Kelton Flinn, and the families of our deceased Brothers.
