Any
Knight who is sick or in need of transportation to a doctor or to
get medication, please contact Brother Joe Murray at 971-2737. THE HOLY FATHER’S INTENTIONS FOR AUGUST. General: That the human family may learn to respect
God’s plan for the world and become ever more aware that Creation is God’s
great gift. Mission: That the answer of the entire people of God to
the common calling to holiness and mission may be promoted and fostered by
means of careful discernment of charisms and constant commitment to
spiritual and cultural formation. LITURGICAL
CALENDAR NOTES: August 6th – Transfiguration of the Lord. August 6th – Day of Remembrance &
Healing for Cancer. August 15th – Assumption of the Blessed
Virgin.
KNIGHT OF THE MONTH: July FAMILY OF THE MONTH: July The Jim Morrisard Family
Membership
– Dave Gamache
Ray Jacquin (A transfer or reactivation, depending upon Supreme) was
approved as a new member of our
council.
We can have a membership drive at each church at various times of the
year. However, what I think works better is for each Brother to ask two new
people to join our council. If half accept, we could double our membership!

account contained $12,066.70.
District
Deputy’s Report – Bob Maher
The semi-annual audit is due by Aug 15th.
I suggest that you should invite the Insurance Agent to
the council meeting so he could explain opportunities to the membership.
A new position, Regional Assistant, has been created at
the District level to assist the District Deputy.
Based upon your schedule, I need to know how many
Brothers are “in-arrears” and for how long. I, also need to know what you are
doing to retain the Bother Knights. The Financial Secretary should have this
information.
We have a new closing prayer, Prayer to St. Gertrude, to
be said at the end of each meeting. It is said that 1,500 souls are released
from Purgatory for each recitation.
The next meeting which should have been held on July 26, 2008 will be held on August 31st at
St. Peter and Paul’s, Palmyra, in conjunction with the installation of
officers.
We need two representatives, one to
report to the 4Th degree our
Council activities and one to report back to the Council on 4TH
degree activities. Please volunteer for one of the slots.
New criteria for applying to the
fourth degree – being a knight for six months instead of a year. The only exceptions include being
near death, or soldiers leaving for a tour of duty in a war zone.
Good Of The Order
Please
pray for:
Sylvia Murray, Father Carl Naro, Peter Colo, Nat Long, and the families of our deceased Brothers.

Motions
Jim Morrisard presented a
motion to up the total from $350.00 to
$400.00 for the purchase of a plaque to list deceased members of the Council.
This was necessitated by an increased cost for the bronze plates. The council approved the motion.
Job Opportunities
There are a number of job
opportunities available in our council. All you need to do is make up your mind
as to what you plan to do for your council in 2008 – 2009. Please consider
signing up to help in one of the positions.
Openings include:
Membership – Dave Gamache
needs help with interviewing new candidates.
Committees :
Lecturer – Bill Philips needs at least one more person.
Nominating Committee – A Trustee heads this function, and he needs at least two people to help out.
Awards Committee – Jack Andrews needs two people also. He also needs input from the Brothers to help select Family & Knight of the Month.

In addition, we need staffing on the First Degree Team. So, what can YOU do for your council???
ABSENCES
Two officers of our council were absent
at our last business meeting. This required a vote by the council to excuse
their absence, which they did. However, if an officer has an unexcused absence,
he may be removed from office by council vote. If you, as an officer, know that
you cannot make a meeting, please call the Grand Knight so you can be excused
from the meeting and prevent your removal from office.
