Text Box: Grand Knight Report
I want to thank the Brothers for electing me Grand Knight. I will do my best to represent you and lead you in pursuit of a Star Council award. I want to ask all the Brothers to take part in this effort. By working together, we can attain this goal!
We need to get our degree teams up to speed. Luckily we have John Kost to provide leadership in that area.
Dennis Koziol has agreed to head the “Keep Christ in Christmas” Committee and will take charge of the three boxes of Christmas Cards that are available.
Football tickets are available and will be distributed by the Inside Guard at each meeting. This is a fun fund raiser so please take a couple.

Membership – Dave Gamache

Ray Jacquin (A transfer or reactivation, depending upon Supreme) was approved  as a new member of our council.

We can have a membership drive at each church at various times of the year. However, what I think works better is for each Brother to ask two new people to join our council. If half accept, we could double our membership!

Deputy Grand Knight Report – John Chiumento

In my position of Program Director, I’m happy to report the following Directorships:

Church Director – Bob Marinchick

Community Director – Buzz Goforth

Council Director – Robert  Venere

Family Director – Bill Balsam

Chancellor’s Report – Bob Marinchick

The Chairmanship of the Vocations Committee has been accepted by Joe Ciaccio.

The Chairmanship of Keep Christ in Christmas is Dennis Koziol.

Buzz Goforth has agreed to represent our council in interaction with the Church of the Incarnation.

I will represent the other committees, unless others wish to head those committees.

If you need or would like any Knights of Columbus memorabilia, e.g., Prayer cards, rosaries, medals, K of C  hats, shirts, etc., please see  me, Bob Marinchick.

Treasurer’s Report – Dave Gamache

As of June 30, the checking account contained  $12,066.70.

District Deputy’s Report – Bob Maher

The semi-annual audit is due by Aug 15th.

I suggest that you should invite the Insurance Agent to the council meeting so he could explain opportunities to the membership.

A new position, Regional Assistant, has been created at the District level to assist the District Deputy.

Based upon your schedule, I need to know how many Brothers are “in-arrears” and for how long. I, also need to know what you are doing to retain the Bother Knights. The Financial Secretary should have this information.

We have a new closing prayer, Prayer to St. Gertrude, to be said at the end of each meeting. It is said that 1,500 souls are released from Purgatory for each recitation.

Notes From The Fourth Degree

The next meeting which should have been  held on July 26, 2008 will be held on August 31st at St. Peter and Paul’s, Palmyra, in conjunction with the installation of officers.

We need two representatives, one to report to the  4Th degree our Council activities and one to report back to the Council on 4TH degree activities. Please volunteer for one of the slots.

New criteria for applying to the fourth degree – being a knight for six months instead of  a year. The only exceptions include being near death, or soldiers leaving for a tour of duty in a war zone.

Job Opportunities

There are a number of job opportunities available in our council. All you need to do is make up your mind as to what you plan to do for your council in 2008 – 2009. Please consider signing up to help in one of the positions.

Openings include:

Committees :

Lecturer – Bill Philips needs at least one more person.

Nominating Committee – A Trustee heads this function, and he needs at least two people to help out.

Awards Committee – Jack Andrews needs two people also. He also needs input from the Brothers to help select Family & Knight of the Month.

Seven Sages – All former title holders to help train new officers.

IT Team – Currently no members at all

Vocations – Completely open, also.

In addition, we need staffing on the First Degree Team. So, what can YOU do for your council???

ABSENCES

Two officers of our council were absent at our last business meeting. This required a vote by the council to excuse their absence, which they did. However, if an officer has an unexcused absence, he may be removed from office by council vote. If you, as an officer, know that you cannot make a meeting, please call the Grand Knight so you can be excused from the meeting and prevent your removal from office.
