Text Box: Grand Knight Report
We were privileged to hand out Identification badges to this years officers. We ask that they be worn at each meeting.

We continue to provide support to our Churches by acting as ushers, eucharistic ministers, and proclaimers. We, also, support the “Soup Kitchen” and “Food Pantry” at Holy Comforter. Keep up the good work.

E. T. Cason, an honorary member of Council 3670, passed on August 9th. I regret to say that only two Brothers attended the Wake and Funeral. We need better participation! I know we have a list of Brothers that can be available for this duty, but we need someone to maintain the list and coordinate each occurrence.

Please remember to submit your survey results – what you have accomplished to date this year, and what you plan to do from now on.

Also remember that we have the suggestion box available for Brothers to voice gripes, or better yet to offer some constructive criticism suggesting alternative paths.

October 6th Social

The Grand Knight wants to have a Social meeting on Oct 6th  for Knights and spouses at the Stone Chapel. It will be a pot-luck dinner. Our Council will provide the entree and we will do the normal side dishes and desert. This time A-G should do Desert and H-Z should do side dishes. The social is opened to all the surrounding area councils. Bill Phillips, our entertainment chair, has agreed to provide the drinks and meat at the councils expense.

Please send an e-mail to the surrounding councils inviting them to the social soon. They can call Kelton’s office phone to acknowledge how many will attend (434)973-1557. We will have a guest speaker from HOSPICE, "Hospice of the Piedmont" talking about what they do and don't do (they do not help people die). This is not a fund raising speech. They will not be asking for money, only sharing info about what they do. We will need a head count by Thursday Oct. 2nd.

Membership – Dave Gamache

Remember, we have an ongoing  membership drive. Have you  asked  two new people to join our council?

Chuck Rockacy was unanimously accepted into Council 3670 at our September meeting. We are looking into getting Chuck to a 1st degree exemplification at the earliest opportunity.

Deputy Grand Knight Report – John Chiumento

Chancellor’s Report – Bob Marinchick (434) 823-4068     r_marincic@comcast.net

A Mass of Remembrance will be held at Holy Comforter on November 15th to honor our deceased Brothers. Time – 9:00 AM,  Celebrant – Fr. Dennis McAuliffe. Please place this date on your calendar.

The Church of the Incarnation needs volunteers to work at its “Landscape Day” on Sept 27 from 8:00AM to 11:00 AM. Gloves and tools will be supplied.

A traditional fiesta will be held at The Church of the Incarnation on September 27 from 7:00PM to 11:00 PM by the Spanish Community. There will be Spanish foods, songs, and dances. A raffle will also be held. Tickets are available after each Mass.

If you need or would like any Knights of Columbus memorabilia, e.g., Prayer cards, rosaries, medals, K of C  hats, shirts, etc., please see  me.

From time to time, we receive a request  from a Church that we represent for help in painting, minor repairs or general landscaping. If you are interested in helping out in these areas, please let me know. I want to develop a list of people that I can call, rather than have to search through our entire membership roster seeking help. Thank you.

UVA Concessions

Tony Ditolve has asked  Council 3670 if any member is interested in working the Wild Wing stands at UVA football games. The schedule of games for which they still need help follows:

      Date                      Opponent                    Time

Sat., Oct. 4th                 Maryland                      TBA

Sat., Oct. 11th                East Carolina                TBA

Sat., Oct. 18th                North Carolina              TBA

Sat., Nov. 1st                 Miami                           TBA

Sat., Nov 22nd               Clemson                       TBA

General information on dress code and behavior:

1.       Uniforms – this year we are required to wear uniforms. This means you are to wear black or khaki color pants or shorts. Since we are working the Wild Wings stands, shirts will be provided to us, as will hats/visors once you get to the stadium. (If we weren’t working with Wild Wings we would have to provide our own shirts.) NO OPEN-TOED SHOES, FLIP-FLOPS OR JEANS.

2.   Parking is at “The Park” (next to the JAG school) – like last year.

3.       A Bus will take you from The Park to the stadium. Buses start running 5 hours before game time. Please be IN the stand no later than 3 hours before game time, i.e. 12:30 If the game started at 3:30. (If I were you I’d be at The Park NO later than 11:45). Upon arrival at the stadium, proceed to check-in. Your name will be on the K of C list.

4.       We will be working the Wild Wings stands at both the East and West gates. For the time being, let’s have all the            ND volunteers go to the East gate stand, plus Andy (he’s been instructed to keep his eye on them.) Everybody else to the West gate stand. Adjustments may need to be made later. Please be flexible.

5.       Duties at the stand – we’ll go over these once you arrive. Please be flexible!

6.       Health Code requirements – we’ll go over these once you arrive. Please follow them – Think “The Tavern” if you don’t – the Health Dept. will.

7.   Consumption of food – this year, ARAMARK ( the people we/Wild Wings work for) have banned  lunch.          But because we are working for Wild Wings, I have asked twice and been told twice that, we WILL be allowed to eat what we sell. Having said that, let’s be particularly careful about the following: DO NOT eat in the stand; Let’s not be piggish and watch the amount we eat; let’s be circumspect about advertising to other groups/ARAMARK personnel that we are getting free food; and keep personal drinks in a location distinct and apart from where we are selling and cooking.

Father Louis A Rowen List of Deceased Knights

The following is a list of all Brothers that have passed and are honored on our Plaques. Since some were inadvertently omitted last month,  we are publishing this list again to make sure we honor them correctly. You will note that some have PGK (Past Grand Knight) or PSD (Past State Deputy) preceding their name. If you recognize that others deserve these honors,  or comparable honors,  please call Jim Morrisard, 973-6570 so he can get the Plaque changed.
