Council Support

The Council supports the KOVAR effort primarily with the annual Tootsie Roll Drive, held in mid-April. Tootsie Rolls are handed out to customers entering various establishments during that time, and brochures are offered which explain KOVAR. Donations are gratefully accepted. It is important to note that KOVAR  has low overhead operating costs of approximately 7% which covers the cost of promotional materials, the annual audit by a CPA firm, liability insurance,  a direct mail campaign, etc. KOVAR is an all volunteer organization with no paid employees or rented space. Every effort is made to keep operating cost to a  minimum.

The costs of all overhead for the fundraiser (including the Tootsie Rolls) is absorbed by the council. Additionally, the council members donate their own time to the local organizations as needed.
